On Tuesday, July 28, 2009 we welcomed the Hughes family to the "New Lodge" - we were so happy to have them stay with us because they opened their home to me when I visited London a few years ago. Julie and Mike Hughes and their children Tommy and Haley lived in Sunningdale for 18 months. I was lucky enough to visit them twice while they were living there and so I was delighted to return the hospitality they showed me!
Mike was on this side of the pond working for five weeks. Julie and the kids joined him in Paris to watch the end of the Tour de France. Then they drove back to England on Tuesday and set up camp at our digs. While Mike went to work, Julie and the kids visited many London sights that they didn't get around to seeing when they lived here. The weather was classic London summer fun...rain, sunshine, rain, sunshine, etc. throughout the day!

On Wednesday, after breakfast and some downtime, the Hughes crew were off and running. They visited the Tower, had a Big Bus Tour and stopped by Buckingham Palace. On Thursday I pulled our kids out of camp and we joined them for an afternoon at Covent Garden.

The highlight for our kids was playing with Tommy and Haley - barefoot football, Wii, coloring, and a lot of movies! We had a great time catching up with Julie and Mike too. The four of us had a fantastic dinner at Michael Moore and Michael himself came out of the kitchen to greet us and check on how our evening was going.

On Friday, July 31 we had a great BBQ in the backyard and enjoyed their company so much. Needless to say, there were a lot of tears when the time came for their departure on August 1. But we didn't have too much time to dwell on our house guests leaving us...we had to pack and prepare for our cruise through Scandinavia and Russia.
Thanks Hughes Family! We hope to see you here again sometime soon!! xoxo
CHEERS!
