On April 15 a group of "mums" went on a day trip to Stoke-on-trent. This town, located about 3 hours northwest of London, is the pottery capital of the UK. Located here are dozens of factory outlets for some of the most reputable names in china and porcelain. After dropping off our respective children at school and leaving wee ones with babysitters we set off for a day of pottery shopping. John said to me, "you call it whatever you want, I think this is just an excuse for all of you to get out of dodge for the day." Absolutely!
Thanks to Tammy Gicking, our chauffeur, and Kelly Basile, our navigator, we arrived safely at our first destination, Burleigh. We allowed ourselves about 40 minutes per stop so that we could make our way back to London before our husbands sent out a search party. After Burleigh we went to Emma Bridgewater (a favorite!), Spode and Portmeirion. The day was a complete success as everyone left Stoke with some new and lovely pieces...and Tammy's car was riding very low in the back!

A lovely, albeit long, day in the car but definitely time well spent with new friends.
Cheers!
